Superintendent Search- More info
Focus Groups
The focus groups serve a number of purposes in the search process. First, they seek to establish those areas where members of the Community and the District feel should be priorities for the new superintendent. Second, they afford an opportunity for the various constituent groups who will be working with the consultant to have some worthwhile input into the search process. Finally, they should help in establishing a profile of those characteristics and skills which will best match the specific needs of the District at the present time. The focus groups are not an evaluation of either the District or any employees. The goal of the participants is to be future oriented.

You do not need to sign up if you plan on attending, walk-ins are welcome.
  • Administrator Focus Group, today 4/12/17, 1pm - 2:30pm, Babcock Hall, Room B111
  • All Staff Focus Group, today 4/12/17, 4pm - 5:30pm, Babcock Hall, Room B111
  • Parent/Community Member Focus Group, today 4/12/17, 6pm - 7:30pm, Babcock Hall, Room B111
Screening Committee
To be eligible for the screening committee you must be a parent of a current Westerly Public Schools student(s) and be able to meet the time commitment required of the screening committee. Only one application will be accepted per person.
The purpose of the screening committee will be to conduct interviews and recommend finalists to move on to second round interviews with the full School Committee. The School Committee will be responsible for conducting second round and final interviews and selecting the new superintendent. Only the School Committee and the consultant will be responsible for researching the candidates' credentials, work experience, and background.
There will be three parents (elementary, middle, high) chosen at random at the April 12, 2017 school committee meeting to participate on the screening committee. You will be contacted if you are selected.
Parents must sign up for the screening committee no later than 4/12/17 at 5pm.
Survey

The Westerly School Committee invites all students, staff, parents, and community members to provide input regarding the characteristics believed to be important in the next Superintendent of Schools.

The survey will close on 5/8/17 at 12pm.

Student Council Civic Project

Dunn’s Corners School Student Council Civic Project:

Kids Helping the Community

The mission of our student council:  The creation of our student council will enable all students to affect positive change in the Westerly community as well as to expand our own knowledge of cultural and community issues.

We chose to evaluate three community organizations; The Jonnycake Center, The Special Olympics, and The Westerly Adult Day Care Center, and we decided to support them all.  Please join us in helping our community by considering donating to each cause.

Tuesday:  Bring in a gently used item of clothing you have outgrown that you know someone else could enjoy.

Wednesday: Bring in an unopened toiletry item such as soap, toothbrush, or deodorant.

Thursday:  Bring in a non perishable food such as a canned good or boxed item.

Friday: Bring in a gently used family game that the elderly members of our community might enjoy playing.

Thank you for your generosity and supporting the helpful organizations of our community!
