Westerly Hospital Presents "Raising Resilient Children in the Age of Anxiety"

Westerly Hospital Presents “Raising Resilient Children in the Age of Anxiety”

In honor of World Mental Health Day, Westerly Hospital will be hosting a free discussion on “Raising Resilient Children in the Age of Anxiety” on Tuesday, October 11 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center.  The program will be presented in partnership with the Westerly Public School district and the Washington County Coalition for Children.
The program will be presented by Ellen Flannery Schroeder, PhD, ABPP, clinician at the New England Center for Anxiety in Westerly and Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Rhode Island and member of the Washington County Coalition for Children.
Dr. Schroeder will discuss how parents can identify anxiety and related difficulties in children, avoid common parenting practices which serve to maintain or worsen anxiety, use research-supported parenting strategies which lessen both the immediate and long-term impacts of anxiety and related distress, and best support children’s independent coping to manage difficult situations.
The program is free and open to all.
Moving in or out of DCS

Moving? Please call the school at (401) 348-2320.

If you are transferring OUT of Dunn's Corners school, we will prepare your child's records to be sent to his or her new school (once registered).
School Mission (Why we exist)
Dunn's Corners School provides developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for each child in a caring and stimulating learning environment to establish the foundation of lifelong learning.

We will close achievement gaps in special education, increase proficiency levels for all students, and bring greater numbers of students to the achievement category: proficient with distinction.

Mission of Westerly Public Schools:
To create an inspiring, challenging and supportive environment where students are encouraged and assisted in reaching their highest potential.
